Chase invites you to go see the best left-handed tennis player since John McEnroe play right-handed.

(at left is the image from an ad in today's New York Post)
Spaniard Rafael Nadal is the #2 ranked tennis player in the world—behind Roger Federer—and the King of Clay. What Rafael Nadal is not is ambidextrous. And no, he's not hitting a backhand here because he only has one hand on the racket, and Nadal hits a two-handed backhand. Chase/their ad agency flopped the photo because it worked better with the ad's layout. You may say I'm nitpicking; I am a left-handed tennis player. But I bet Nadal wouldn't think it's nitpicking. Us Lefties is a proud fraternity.
previously in stupid sports marketing moves:
1. So, Reebok running shoes help prevent puking?
2. Johnnie Walker: Official Sports Drink of the New York Yankees.
3. Taglines are DUMB: The New York Knicks.
4. Head & Shoulders draws pass play in man's hair.
5. A-Rod's milk moustache.
6. Urnie Banks?

It's funny that you mention this ad, because I saw it this morning when I was reading on the subway and couldn't help but think of your earlier post on Chase: http://copyranter.blogspot.com/2007/04/what-marketing-director-of-chase-jerks.html

They're on a losing streak.

Someone ought to warn Rafael Nadal and his Mirror Universe Twin that the shark from Jaws is about to chomp them both in its Pointy Teeth Jaws of Death.

Actually he IS ambidextrous, and definitely not a Lefty. He is naturally right handed and was taught to play with his left because his coach thought it would improve the power in his two handed backhand.
