NYC Windows: C.O. Bigelow.

Founded in 1838, C.O. Bigelow on 6th Avenue in the West Village is the oldest pharmacy in America—it's a seriously excellent store amidst the ubiquitous, shitty Duane Reades. Every Christmas, they get pretty creative with their window displays. The above Abominable Snowman (click image) is the first—and last—cheery X-mas post for 2006.
previously in NYC Windows:
1. The Great Wall of New York.
2. Zamir Furs.
3. President Clinton Doll.
4. Radio Shack 'now hiring' posters.

Damn, I like that one!

I was a tourist last weekend with a friend but I didn't see that window. And I thought Saks did a good job ;-)

Reminds me of Skenderian Apothecary in Cambridge. They have this mural on an outside wall that features, bizarrely, a really happy skeleton. As found on Flickr:

You are making excellent progress. We need to see more of these posts where you tell us what you DO like.

The fact that you like big scary albino gorillas we will leave for another session.

A Bigelow on the floor
A Bigelow to cover a nekkid ape
In the chilly window of a Bigelow store
So the big lug isn't laid low by the fuh fuh flu
And those passing the display on the avenoo
Aren't blue and deflated like a Gilbert Grape
But are gladdened by the art in the dresser's chore

Not a huge Bigelow fan.

And have you not noticed that Limited Corp. bought out Bigelow, issued a "new" Bigelow product line (of blatant Kiehl's ripoffs), and is rolling out C.O. Bigelow Apothecaries across the US? Products are also carried in Limited's Bath & Body Works stores.

Yeah yeah. Well, it was the second oldest continuously operated business in the U.S. Remington is older.

That's all the Limited every does is copy and steal other people's ideas and use people up for what they can take from them and throw them away like used tissues. The Bigelow product line SUCKS!!!! Just one of a long line of products that bear an uncanny resemblance to someone elses efforts, stolen by the Limited and it's PIG founder Leslie Wexler.
It is cheaply made and an ugly comment on the companies ethics which are that of a common thief. The company is one of the worst to work for and the most horrific to compete for business with.
